COUPLES COMMUNICATION TRAINING

Love and caring is the foundation for good communication between partners. However, even when these important ingredients are present, communication can be unclear or misunderstood. Just as scientists identified atomic particles as the unseen but essential building blocks of the physical universe, the unseen but essential qualities of a happy marriage can be identified and named. Happy marriages are not a matter of chance. With Communication Training you can learn skills that strengthen your bond, build mutual respect, and enrich your relationship.

SKILLS YOU CAN LEARN AND USE

****Styles of Communication: Styles reflect the ways people resolve conflicts and deal with issues. Learn to recognize different styles of communicating, which ones work, when to use different approaches.

Small Talk * Shop Talk

Control Talk * Fight Talk * Spite Talk.

Straight Talk

****Talking Skills: To get our needs met, we need to talk in a way that helps others to know us. Learn how to recognize your own and others' wants, thoughts, feelings and nonverbal messages, and how to use six talking skills for discussing issues more clearly, directly, and completely.

****Listening Skills: Individuals often push for agreement, solutions, or actions before they understand the problem. Learn the five listening skills to help you go to the heart of an issue. These skills reduce stress, build relationship, and create accurate understanding.

****Problem Solving: Learn an eight step problem solving approach that integrates the three skills outlined above. Using these steps helps partners feel more understood and achieve more lasting and rewarding solutions.

The course, which requires 4 sessions comes with manuals and other learning materials which you take with you to reinforce learning. The instruction includes teaching, video examples, and coached practice. For more information call (801) 277-3620.
